Additional Information about this Program
The goal of Toronto Animal Health Partner's Small Animal Rotating Internship Program is to provide a supportive learning environment for interns to build a variety of clinical, technical and communication skills. Intern training will be facilitated by both direct and indirect management of patients, as well as didactic training. Intern clinical responsibilities will vary depending on the service, case complexity and the intern’s level of experience. Direct oversight will always be provided by board-certified specialists and/or experienced emergency clinicians, including on overnight emergency shifts. Topic rounds are held 1-2 times weekly, which includes a rotation of journal club and grand rounds. If interested, interns may prepare a manuscript for publication in a peer reviewed journal but this is not required. Interns will be assigned a mentor to provide guidance and feedback throughout the program. The hospital also has specialty internship programs in surgery, internal medicine, and neurology which provides additional opportunity for peer support.
