Residency in Emergency and Critical Care

University of Florida Veterinary Medicine

Residents work closely with 7 ACVECC diplomates (and 2 residency trained diplomates) and spend a majority of their time at the hospital in Gainesville. A small number of weeks (4-6/year) is spent at the emergency satellite hospital in Ocala. Criticalists are present in the building from 7 am to 10 pm, 7 days/week, to provide training of residents. The emergency critical care service also leads the hemodialysis program at the University of Florida. The program will prepare the resident for the certifying examination of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
