If a foreign graduate
ultimately wants to become licensed to practice in the United
States, they should plan to register for and complete the
Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG)
certification program.
According to the National Board
of Veterinary Medical Examiners, the North American Veterinary
Licensing Examination is administered twice a year. A few other
boards offer them only in December. All but 6 of the boards require
a graduate of a foreign veterinary college to be registered for the
Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG)
program.
